Please excuse me while I talk about sports for a bit.
My loyalties usually lie with the local teams (San Francisco Giants, San Jose Sharks). But when it comes to basketball, I do like the Warriors, but I also like the Dallas Mavericks. While they are a good team, my reason has to do with a strange fascination with Steve Nash. To me, he looks like he should be playing soccer, and the man won't cut his damn hair. And if anyone ever needed a haircut, this guy does. And for some inexplicable reason, I'm fascinated by this. I'm also a fan because of Tariq Abdul-Wahad. I saw him play for San Jose State many years ago, and he was quite good.
I went to my first ever NBA game on Friday, and it totally rocked. Not only because I got to see the Warriors AND the Mavericks play, but because I got to see Tariq play again. And it's nearly impossible not to get caught up in the game when you're in a stadium full of fans.
Of course, I think I was the only one cheering on both teams.
