Taking a trip on a plane involves a lot of sitting, and waiting. Which provides time for thinking. For example, why is it that I save $300 by taking 2 planes to get home, as opposed to the one plane directly back? And there's more room for incidents or error when switching planes. Such as lost luggage, or the possibility of being stuck in Dallas due to a security breach at one of the gates and they won't let anyone board planes (but it was cleared up 10 minutes later and we were on our way).
