I'm still loving the Saltwater Sandals (aka Ugly Shoe Trend of 2008). I'm wearing them today, and I wore them pretty much every day last week and I keep getting complements on them. In fact, I like them SO much, that I ordered a red pair. They arrived just in time for me to wear them Saturday night to a belated surprise birthday dinner with friends from Bonny Doon. Though, I have to admit, our dinner location wasn't a total surprise. I had an inkling as to where we were going, and was thrilled when my suspicion was confirmed and we ended up at Chez Panisse. We ate upstairs at the cafe portion of the restaurant and it was fabulous (I intend to write more about the experience later). My friends are awesome.
I haven't mentioned the bloomers yet have I? I ordered a pair to wear under skirts during the summer, and I love them. And the old-timey-ness of them led me to search for a parasol. I found one locally, and ordered a couple more online. I ended up using one yesterday at a potluck gathering at a park, and while I was happy to have something to shield me from the sun, the addition of sunscreen would have been smart. My partially burned arms and legs would indicate that I am not very smart.
Speaking of sun protection, I picked up a tube of Burt's Bees Chemical Free SPF 30 Sunscreen a while ago, and the boyfriend used it for the first time yesterday. The tube says it's non-whitening, but it doesn't say anything about making you orange. And it should. Because it does. (We think it's probably the beta carotene that causes the orange-ness.) I was so excited about the chemical free-ness of the Burt's Bees, but I think I'm going to switch back to the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch. Unless anyone has a better suggestion?
I'm blaming the random jumbledness of this post on my brain still being melty from last week's high temperatures. My ancestors were vikings, and I'm simply not cut out for any temperature over 85 degrees (and even that's pushing it). It's much cooler today, so my brain should start working in a less jumbled manner very soon. Cross your fingers for me.
