In almost 10 years of blogging, I've been offered something free once. So when I received a very nice e-mail from the folks at the Shabby Apple asking if I'd like to review a dress, I had a hard time saying no. Of course, then I had to pick out a dress.
My daily uniform is a dress. Either over jeans or some tights and boots. The thing is, pretty much every dress I own is an empire waist, because I've learned that that's the style the works for me. The Shabby Apple has oh so many lovely dresses, but I had a hard time finding one with an empire waist. I finally settled on the Shakespeare Garden. Bright yellow isn't usually my thing, but I decided to give it a try.
I'll be honest. I was worried about sizing. As someone who can't usually fit into on the rack boutique-ish style clothes, I didn't think it would fit. It is one of their roomier fit dresses, so I had a little hope, but not much.
It turned out, I had nothing to worry about. It fits almost perfectly! The sleeves are a little tight on my ogre arms, but that's common with clothes I buy from almost anywhere. And oh, my, is it yellow! But it's a nice shade of yellow. Had I taken photos of myself wearing it, there'd be a charcoal grey cardigan over the dress, grey tights and a pair of boots. (I figured more grey would be better than black, else I might look a bit like a bumble bee.) Oh! And even if nobody sees it, I kind of love the bright pink zipper in the back. Just knowing it's there makes me happy.
I haven't worn the dress yet, but I think I may wear it to an upcoming family gathering. And it is getting to that time of year when we're all looking for a nice frock to wear to some sort of holiday gathering, so isn't it nice that the Shabby Apple has offered a 10% discount to you guys? Just use the following code: Uglygreen10off
Thanks Shabby Apple!
So if you haven't already, there's no time like the present...go take a look at some dresses! I'm sure you'll find one you like.
