12.6.01 (thursday)

Did I mention my trip to Austin was for work? It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

The rental car place gave us a musting (aka, "the STANG" or "Gutless Wonder"). And even though it had no horsepower and virtually no backseat, the fact that we (A and myself) were driving a mustang around Texas made us giggle. We arrived at the Austin offices to find cows in the field next to the parking lot. The hotel was nice. Room service kept giving us gerber daisies on our trays. One night for dinner, our Austin counterparts took us to a restaurant that lets you cook your own steaks.

I kept seeing great signs and things to take pictures of, but never managed to have my camera at the right time. So the only thing have shots of are the aforementioned gerber daisies.

Oh! And the weather...it was almost tropical. Humid as all heck. Have you ever walked in to a bathroom after someone has just taken a hot shower, and it's all steamy and well, warm? That's how I'd describe the weather in Austin - at least for the week I was there. I am so very thankful for air conditioning.

Despite the horrid humidity, I had a good time. I'll definitely visit again, but I could never live there.

12.2.01 (sunday)

In about 5 hours I'll be at the airport, waiting to board a plane to Austin. So this is the last you'll hear from me until Thursday.

But before I go...I must tell you about the movie I saw last night.
Amélie was absolutely great. It was directed by the same guy who did Delicatessen (one of my favorite movies) so I knew I'd like it, but I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. I laughed, I cried and I really liked Amélie's hair so now I'm rethinking the whole bangs thing. But I digress.
I know I'm not giving a very convincing argument for you to go spend your hard earned cash on a movie, but trust me on this one? Go see Amélie!
